Strawberry Manor Hussola offers a superb milieu for enjoying a wide range of individual and group activities. We organise complete programmes for groups in co-operation with Adventure Center Ltd in Kuopio and Hiisiretket, so don’t be afraid to express your wishes!
Examples of organised activities
1. Canoeing expedition from Hussola
Canoe from Strawberry Manor Hussola across Pieni-Tallusjärvi lake and along a short river under beautiful trees to Iso-Tallusjärvi lake.
Duration: 1-2 hours
2. Archery
This sport is ideal as part of an evening social programme or training event. In case of bad weather, this activity can also be performed indoors.
Duration: approx. 1 hour
3. Crate climbing
This fun event tests your concentration, balance and character. An assistant hands or throws an empty crate to the climber, who has to build a tower from the crates. The climber wears a safety harness in case he or she should fall.
Duration: 1-2 hours
4. Snowshoe expedition
This expedition takes place in the nature around Strawberry Manor Hussola. The length and skill level can be adapted to suit the participants. The best time of the year for walking in snowshoes is in springtime, when a crust forms on the snow.

Competitions
Strawberry Manor Hussola provides a great setting for individual competitions. The milieu is ideal for companies, organisations and small parties of friends. Competing against one another, relaxing afterwards in a hot sauna and enjoying delicious food is a fun way of spending the day that will be remembered fondly and for a long time by all participants. The competitions can involve ice fishing, skiing, orienteering, skating, or a combination of disciplines.
Ice fishing is a particular fun event that involves the following:
- Ice fishing competition on Pieni-Tallusjärvi lake
- Hot soup in the lakeside sauna
- Weighing of the fish by staff members from Strawberry Manor Hussola
- Campfire coffees served in the cosy “kota” tepee
- Hot sauna in the lakeside sauna, including ice swimming
- Evening meal, including roasting sausages in the fireplace room, plus creamed potatoes, bread and drinks
- Awards ceremony with trophies for the top 3 presented by staff members from Strawberry Manor Hussola
Examples of individual programmes
Summer
- Fishing: On Pieni-Tallusjärvi lake you can fish freely with a rod and line, while other forms of fishing require a fishing permit.
- Croquet, petanque and Finnish “mölkky” equipment can be rented.
- Swimming beaches: dive into the refreshing lake outside your holiday cottage. A child-friendly beach is situated by the lakeside sauna.
- Strawberries: what our manor house is famous for! In summertime you can pick as many strawberries as you can eat fresh or preserve for the wintertime.
Winter
- Sledding hill: Sleds and other winter equipment can be rented.
- Cross-country skiing: We use snowmobiles to prepare perfect skiing trails across the ice or through the forests.
- Ice fishing: Catch fish through a hole cut in the ice on Pieni-Tallusjärvi lake.
- Snowmobiling: Hussola is situated on the public snowmobile route that runs between Karttula and Kuopio.
Dancing
Is dancing your passion? Want to experience the uniqeu charm of an authentic Finnish dance pavilion? Riihilava hosts dances on Saturday evenings throughout the summer. In between dances you can admire the fine view over Pieni-Tallusjärvi lake.
